I remember being at my aunt and uncles house one night and The Omen came on after the 10 o’clock news. I was 8 or 9. 10 at the oldest. I remember watching it and it freaked me the fuck out. Scared to death. That fucking crow, man.

Nobody got the implied sarcasm in there?

To this day I hate anything even remotely horror or headfuck in movies.
I just can’t watch em.

Scream, one of them Saw movies, the hostel and the Blair witch project are the only things close to the three I mentioned that I’ve watched to them in my whole adult life.

I will 1000% embrace any superhero movie that stops trying to impress grown ups and goes back to the true roots of comics, namely being something for kids to enjoy. Just good guys vs bad guys, who cares about plot holes or believable CGI or brooding character motivation or social commentary. Just fun.
It seems like superhero movies as children's entertainment is the standard though
I'm on the more conservative side as far as content I let my kids watch at whatever age they're at, so I'll just say that it's been a good while since I've watched a superhero movie that I'd unreservedly let my 10 year old watch.
I bet we all watched PG-13 and R movies way before we were allowed to.
Not to mention naughty stuff.
No doubt. Not that I want to repeat that with my kids because I, like dime, have stuff in my head that I'll never get out. And, honestly, I know they'll see stuff that I wouldn't necessarily want them to see but there's a large gap between that and me showing them stuff.

And porn is an unequivocal "no" that I actively work to prevent. I almost said "hard no" but figured that would be counterproductive to my point.

My mum taped The Exorcist for me to watch when I was maybe 7 - either she didn't know what it was or thought it was religious thing. I remember being bored

I would have dropped dead if I watched The Exorcist at 7.

my brother is 2 years older than me and my sister was 4 years older

back then your parents could buy your tickets for you and watch you go in the theater and then they could leave and do what not.

my dad drove close to an hour to take us to see Friday the 13th. it was probably about 20 minutes after he left that the girl opened the fridge and found the head on the shelf. when i say i lost my shit this is not some understatement. i think my scream scared more people than the actual movie did. my siblings were pissed. had to take me out of the theater and try to calm me down. i was unconsolable. they called dads house and let my step mom know what was going on. no sooner did dad get home that he got back in truck and headed back.

once he got there i was still a mess so he thought buying stuff for us would help calm me down. my brother and sister got records (an album and a few 45s i think) where as I got some bitching Lego Space station stuff.

i can still feel the ugly cry in my soul

Wait your dad drove an hour, dropped you off at a movie that clocks in at 1 hour 36 minutes, and drove an hour all the way home? Your dad may have some time management issues.

Your siblings could’ve watched the rest of the movie during your bitch-out session before your dad even got there
