Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
I feel like I’m on an island alone in that I liked a whole lot about this season. The plotting was a little ham-fisted at times and it seemed like the goal of the season was to give JAW a bunch of meaty dialogue scenes with the other great actors on the show, but those scenes were all great, very moving. And I’m still in on the Faks.

HAHA, seriously! hard to watch a show when you're staring at your phone the whole time. braindead fools up in hereBuby wrote:There's a considerable amount of storytelling going on without audible dialogue, I'd put my phone down so that it's not a distraction.dimejinky99 wrote:Halfway through season 4 and I think I oooked up from my phone twice.
It’s just loads of emptiness. Would have been more interesting to do the whole season with no dialogue rather than this.

If you want to watch a show where everyone describes what they’re doing out loud so you can have it on in the background (“I don’t have time to talk, I’ve got to move these boxes between the truck and the back door of this building!”), SVU is still on the air.tree_ wrote:HAHA, seriously! hard to watch a show when you're staring at your phone the whole time. braindead fools up in hereBuby wrote:There's a considerable amount of storytelling going on without audible dialogue, I'd put my phone down so that it's not a distraction.dimejinky99 wrote:Halfway through season 4 and I think I oooked up from my phone twice.

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
As others have said, he’s gone nowhere and done nothing over the four seasons. Has learned or even nosedived really. Hes just there. Almost every other character is more interesting and better written. I had hoped they were going somewhere with that rather than it just being a point of his character. It shouldn’t take 4 seasons for this to be the point. Man’s endless neurotic fixated impossible struggle for perfection in all he does and failing, but demanding impossible standards from everyone else, really isn’t that compelling for very long at all.

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
This season felt like a pastiche of the previous 2:
-reused songs
-big name actor coming in for one episode to throw heat
-Community actors
-running in circles around the same problems
-“guys look how wacky each Fak is!”
That being said each character did at least grow or get some sort of closure at the end of the season. I just didn’t think it was as entertaining in how it was told.

Braindead was a little blunt, but he has a point. I don't think that much screen time is good for anyone. Surely you can't be Anders-ing every single piece of media. Gotta devote your full attention to the artistry, innit.dimejinky99 wrote:Fuck off tree. Reusing the REM song made sense, in the moment in fit perfectly. Save it for Later was strange.Mecca wrote:This season felt like a pastiche of the previous 2:

Re: The Bear (FX/Hulu)
The finale was stunning. I loved this season.
To me, this show feels like a reality television show where no one knows they’re being filmed. I don’t care about the plot at all; I’m all in on the characters. It’s like nothing else on tv.

You guys are too hard on the Faks. They’re more rooted in reality than you think. I worked with guys who legit weren’t far off them when I lived there.Mecca wrote:This season felt like a pastiche of the previous 2:

And those writing off Carmy next season aren’t paying attention. He’s sticking around to get The Bear out of debt (what could go wrong?), so unless they do a big time jump, he’ll be in the kitchen.

My criticism wasn’t that they’re not believable; they’re just Flanderising themspike wrote:You guys are too hard on the Faks. They’re more rooted in reality than you think.
