I think it’s somehow weirder than parents getting old because it’s often years or even decades between seeing them. Plus, they’re immortalized on celluloid. I don’t think anything makes my own aging or mortality more sobering than seeing the faces I idolized or watched weekly on tv getting old.

How is that even the same person? It’s reading Hope “Fade Into You” Sandoval just turned 59. It’s the interview I saw where Patricia Heaton talked about not doing an Everybody Loves Raymond revival. She’s 67! I mean, of course she is, but still…wow!

I also feel it when watching baseball. I'll see a pitcher who looks old and think, I bet he's my age. I'll look him up and he'll be like 5 years younger than me.
