I Drink Alone - a Thorough George thread

Post by Peeps »

I did a search and found like 10 threads mentioning George. 3 of them were somehow titled songs that ruin life for you and such :)

I think he has a great voice for the songs he plays and realize he is considered a bit of a thief with the blues

Bad to the Bone was the song of the moment back then and probably contributed to a lot of people wanting to shoot pool

who do you love, gear jammer, get a haircut and others are all solid jams too

one bourbon, one scotch, one beer

i know its a remake and it's not buckhead or that malsteen weirdo, but his solos make my blood pump. it's just simple blues licks, but there's something about the way he plays that makes my hair stand up. he's like a lesser version of billy gibbons.

I always thought this was cool
During the late 1970s, Thorogood and his band were based in Boston. He was friends with Jimmy Thackery of the Washington, D.C.–based blues band, The Nighthawks. While touring in the 1970s, the Destroyers and the Nighthawks were playing shows in Georgetown at venues across the street from each other. The Destroyers were engaged at the Cellar Door and the Nighthawks at Desperados. At midnight, while both bands played Elmore James's "Madison Blues" in the same key, Thorogood and Thackery left their clubs, met in the middle of M Street, exchanged guitar cords and went on to play with the opposite band in the other club

Couldn't agree more, Dougray. There's just something about a George Thorogood song that makes me wanna drive pencils into my ears.

He's one note, but by George he owns that note down to the molecular level.
