Wait, why would this be the last PJ concert?
Because they’re old motherfuckers?

right. i got the sense at the shows i saw this tour, and these two pittsburgh shows specifically, that they were going to put it all out there, show appreciation, celebrate a little bit, and enjoy the moment. they (well, ed) gave no indication they plan to stop what they're doing, but i think they also showed that they recognize, especially now, that their future as a band isn't promised. maybe they do have tentative studio and/or tour plans already in the works, but they aren't young either and a lot can happen in 2-3 years that they may not get that opportunity, so they took this opportunity to finish things on a high note their way. that's how it felt to me, especially pittsburgh night 2.

I think something’s going to happen with this, just based on recent comments by Ben and Kim and the fortuitous timing of the band’s induction into the RnRHoF.

Maybe even a tour with guest vocalists?

1-2 years of pearl jam disappearing has also been their MO for years, so let's not overthink it. they have side projects and other interests that they'll get back to after some down time. they also need to mend their old bodies after even these scaled back tours - certainly ed and his now noticeable arthritis does. sure, someone could drop dead or be diagnosed with a debilitating disease at this stage, but plenty of their idols have all been continuing to tour well beyond this age, so no reason not to think they won't have the same desire.

You’re right and that’s why I said “if”. I don’t see any indication any of them would choose to leave PJ behind, but the external risks to the future of the band are real at this point in their lives especially over multi year timeframes, and IF this was it then it wasn’t a bad way to go

For those who were there in person, did anyone else notice the change in pre-Pearl Jam music played over the PA? The band generally sticks to the same playlist each show, but this night they mixed it up right before the band took the stage.

All Night Thing was played fairly loudly, which I was convinced was going to be their walk on song given the significance of the date. But then it ended and Squid Ink by MMJ played. Then the band entered.

Just thought that was mildly interesting and curious why they went with MMJ in that spot when all other shows had the same, unknown song played.

Saw four shows this tour and this was the only one where they mixed things up as far as I could tell

All Night Thing was part of the waiting music for the past 2 years. That wasn't new.

Is that a lyric?
It’s what the Pit reported he sang
I don't think there was ever any doubt, but he talked about climbing trees with Chris Cornell when he did In My Tree at Fenway last year. So that does confirm Comes Then Goes is about Cornell. I dunno if Eddie confirmed it directly or not or if everybody just assumed.
