That hurts.

I'll die never having heard Matt playing any of the DM songs—his best work with the band. Hard to fathom that right now too.

He's the most accomplished drummer PJ ever had certainly—and the most versatile. You can point to things the Dave's and Jack did better of course but I'll take Matt overall. He's also a really interesting songwriter not just with the music he's credited directly for but how he got the band thinking about how to approach their own stuff—I don't think we PJ fans have quite appreciated that like we should. Jack had some of that ability and Dave A. had none of that ability despite being crazy great on Vs. All my opinions of course and to each their own. Didn't become a full blown fan until the late 90's so Matt will always be my Pearl Jam drummer of choice.

My Matt highlights:

• First Letterman '98 appearance (new drummer whoa!)
• 6/30/98 Target Center Minneapolis show (was worried he wouldn't be great given how short a time he had to learn the songs but was so impressed)
• Letterman 2000 Grievance appearance (he played like such a badass—such a great performance)
• Hearing "Evacuation" and thus "Matt Cameron" loud and clear in a PJ song for the first time
• You Are ('nuff said)
• DOTC (that's not a drum machine!)
• The John Bonhamminess that is Quick Escape
• Basically all of Dark Matter (title track, breakdown in Stevie, fucking React, Respond outro, etc, etc, etc.)

I got to hear You Are, Cropduster, Johnny Guitar, Unemployable and The Fixer played live. Missed the others. They’ve never played Get it Back in concert, right?

You Are is my favorite Pearl Jam song. I’ll miss his songwriting the most.

He is a top 3 drummer of all time for me, as im a huge fan of both PJ and SG, and i also adore stuff like WWC and Hater.

Im still in shock. I read the nwes and suddenly i remember back in 98 when i heard about Matt joining PJ for one tour. One tour they said and wow its been 27 years. Cant really imagine how different was my life in 98, its actually a different world than today. Amazing.

Saw Matt 11 times with the band but now those shows i bailed in 24 and 25 had a different meaning maybe...ey, i was lucky enough to got amazing live shows, temple of the dog...im alright.

Hopefully he has a SG reunion tour in him and i can see those three again.

What can i say! my favorite PJ drummer by far.

Get Right gets shit for one little clunky lyric. Great song. Top half of Riot Act.

3 lead singles, trying to keep him around. But maybe if they are easing into sets w all pre 1999 material, then it's no longer a band he co-owns

Eddie Vedder ruined The Fixer, Matt shouldn't even have his name associated with that pile of shit. didn't the release his demo of the song?
