Dave Grohl would be an amazing plot twist

Wouldn't shock me.
He squeezes himself into any situation he possibly can.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Hilarious to me that RM is all "Yea cameron left because he obviously doesnt have enough time for soundgarden and his other projects" then in the next breath "yea chad smith or grohl would be a good fit" like these motherfuckers are just sitting around picking their asses with nothing to do. lol

I had a horrible thought that the guys would go with a drum machine, but I sure hope not... plenty of good drummers out there

Irrelevant. All I care about is whether or not you appreciated Gordon Ramsay's bitchy comment.
That WAS pretty funny

Chad Smith or... ?

In any event, Smith is older than Matt Cameron and probably busy enough with his other gig.

I'd love to see Matt Chamberlain rejoin however he's also very busy - he's been Paul Simon's touring drummer of late and still does plenty of session work. But man, what a drummer.

Dave A has said that he wants to re-join the band.
As far as I'm concerned that seals it. The band can either get over their egos and heal hearts, or be so supremely stupid as to be staggeringly and profoundly stupid.
I love Matt, and some of his songs are my favorite PJ songs, but there's a job opening for drummer of PJ.
If Dave wants to mend fences and take that seat, then PJ needs to get over themselves about it and mend that fence with him. No excuses. Do it.
Heck, I'll even compromise on this and say, if you all just can't find a way to co-exist after one album and a tour, then fine, but give love a chance man.

Simon just cancelled some gigs due to debilitating back pain. Chamberlain may be more available than you thought

My feeling is that they’ve known about Matt leaving for some time now. And probably have already taken first steps as to the next drummer. As much as I would dig it, if Dave hasn’t gotten the call by now, I doubt he’ll get one.

If Dave A. rejoins the band that also likely means Pearl Jam becomes a greatest hits 1991-1994 band. That's my fear and the primary reason I wouldn't want him back at this point. Of course there are millions of grunge fan boys that have wanted this for decades—I am not one of those people.

Can you honestly tell me you can picture him sitting down to learn the post-Vitalogy catalog beyond a handful of tracks (Given to Fly, DTE and maybe a few cuts from whatever the most recent album is?).

Again if you are ready to abandon everything MC and even Jack did with the band I guess you'd be happy and you'll have lots of company amongst the casual PJ fans that want to relieve the 90's glory days and hear Evenflow over and over again the "correct way". That's not me.

I think it's likely the band will fall back more heavily on the 90s output than ever with a new drummer, no matter who it is.

Outside of a few setlist regulars, Unthought Known etc, I can't see them spending hours working up the album tracks from the late period records.

This

But I do think Dave could learn pretty much anything after his two albums
