Re: How often do you listen to each album?
I haven’t really listened to much if any Pearl Jam so far in 2025, but in life over maybe the last few years:
Ten - 2 times a year?
Vs. - 2 times a year?
Vitalogy - 5 times a year
No Code - 5 times a year
Yield - 3-4 times a year
Binaural - 5 times a year maybe more
Riot Act - once a year
Pearl Jam - 2 times a year
Backspacer - once every couple of years
Lightning Bolt - once every couple of years
Gigaton - 2-3 times a year
Dark Matter - still too soon for this, but probably about the same as Gigaton

Re: How often do you listen to each album?
like beginning to end?
i still don't listen to studio takes very often. most of the ten songs i listen to 'unplugged', vs and vitalogy atlanta 94, no code and yeild lo2l, and then at that point in their career you can pretty much hear every song they've ever played live. the last two albums are the only albums ive listened to begnning to end in like a decade.

Same, pretty much to the letter. There may have been random one-off instances of me putting on one of the studio albums, but overwhelmingly I scratch my PJ itch with live shows and WCT/Ridley comps.warehouse wrote:like beginning to end?

Re: How often do you listen to each album?
I pretty much listen to both live and studio recordings and still love an album front to back no matter who I am listening to. I grew up with basically no choice but to do that, but it’s still to me the best way to hear a band in their moment in time…but I also do love live recordings.
Playlists and stuff like that is for when I am on longer drives with the family so they don’t have to hear the same artist for hours in the way my brain was trained to do it.

I mostly listen to the studio albums on vinyl, and i would say that No Code, Yield, Binaural, Gigaton and DM are the ones i listen to.

I don't listen very often anymore but if I'm going to put an album on it's going to be no code

Re: How often do you listen to each album?
Like liebzz, when I'm alone I'm definitely an album listener. I'm probably more of an ADD listener in that I go deep with one artist at a time so that impacts my patterns. I've been on a Sturgill Simpson deep dive for 6 months or so (right after I spun Dark Matter regularly for a good month). Also there's in my car vs. at my desk at work.
So, all that is to way, when I'm in a Pearl Jam zone that isn't a bunch of 2000 and 2003 bootlegs, it would be:
Played regularly at work and in the car:
Yield (favorite drumming on any record)
Riot Act (best overall band sound on any record)
No Code (second-best overall band sound)
Vitalogy (best front-to-back piece of art in the catalog)
Plated not infrequently:
Dark Matter (because it's still new) (Dark Matter only at work, not really in the car because it's practically unlistenable at in-the-car volumes.)
Binaural (mostly to get to the sublime back half)
Infrequent:
Vs. or Ten (mostly just to check back in on the nostalgia)
Rare
Pearl Jam (first album to have songs I cringed at)
Gigaton (least favorite album--if I listen I reduce it to an EP)
Lightning Bolt (which I actually like, but mostly for nostalgic reasons related to rocking out with my son when he was two and it just came out)
Backspacer (eh, it's fine but doesn't sound particularly great and too much filler)

i probably listen to each album as an album 2-3 times a year. MUCH more for Dark Matter
but i mostly listen on shuffle to a massive playlist. Predominantly albums, not live

Re: How often do you listen to each album?
So when a album is in its first year probably a hundred times. So in a year like 2024 other albums didn't get alot of plays, but in 2023 for instance Yield and Backspacer and Ten all probably at least 10 each. Gig Bolt 0. Haven't listened to Riot Act in 15 years. Everything else would have got a few spins.
Streaming in the car has changed how listen by a mile. It use to be put album on and listen to its conclusion.

the Unplugged show is my proxy for Ten at this point

Ten 0 (but I hear it all a lot through boots)
Vs 1 to 2
Vitalogy 4 to 5
No code 7 to 8
Yield 3 to 4
Binaural 3 to 4
Riot Act 6 to 7
Avocado 3
Backspacer been a few years
Lightning bolt probably not for a couple years
Gigaton 1 or 2 since DM
DM this year maybe 8 times.
The recent albums are not uploaded to my Fiio, which affects my listening frequency

Re: How often do you listen to each album?
I would say it's the only one I listen to all the way through with any regularity is Gigaton. I will throw on a full earlier album once in a blue moon, but I feel like by this point I've squeezed about as much juice as I can. I haven't played the newer records into the ground, but besides Gigaton I find myself more often going back for individual songs from those. I did do Binaural/Riot Act earlier this year and they still sound great.

Re: How often do you listen to each album?
The only studio albums I put on & listen to front to back anymore are No Code, Yield, Binaural & Riot Act. Always on vinyl, 2-3 times per year on average. Yield probably gets the most play, maybe 5 times a year in the last couple.

No Code once a year. Yield every two years. Vs. every three years but I skip "Glorified G". That song really chaps my ass.

Maybe don't carry it around inside your skivvies? Try just putting it in your pocket or maybe in a satchel.Ello Sailor wrote:No Code once a year. Yield every two years. Vs. every three years but I skip "Glorified G". That song really chaps my ass.
