Just finished the first novel. The first season seemed to follow it pretty closely. I like that they’re doing a season per book. There are a lot of short stories and ancillary novels that go along with the main series and I’m wondering if anything from those will be used for the show.

I just read the novel “Reconstruction” which is a prequel-ish novel about Sam Chapman. Jedd Moody also makes an appearance. You should read that! It was good. I’m also finishing up the Oxford mysteries right now, which also takes place in the same universe, but it’s only very tangentially related.

I’ve got all the Slough House books and short stories and now have to go back and get these related works. Reconstruction is certainly on the list.

Pretty good interview with Oldman. I like the adding farts to past roles of his bit.

So I finally got the all ancillary books and have started Reconstruction. Will finish this before I hit Book 2, Dead Lions. I’m really liking his stuff so far.

Ruddo, you like reading spy/ spy-ish type books?

I smiled the whole time. Jackson Lamb was the best addition to my life in 2024.

Man, I got a lot of catching up to do if I want to finish the book before the season starts.

I think September is when the new book comes out, too.

Just finished Spook Street earlier this afternoon. Now I’m caught up with the show. Gonna read something else then right back in with London Rules.

Renewed for season SEVEN (for the record, the season coming in September is season 5):

That probably has to do with how they shoot the seasons. Since 5 comes out in September, then they either have already shot or are shooting season 6 right now, so they’ll have to start planning for season 7 soon. This show just fucks.

FWIW, and something to keep an eye on, showrunner Will Smith is leaving the show after season 5.

That's a shame, but not super surprising given the amount of work he's doing.

I loved him on The Thick of It and was about halfway through the series when I realized it was the same guy.
