People gleefully said the same thing about Avatar, and then the sequel came out and made nearly $2.5 billion.

Avatar did disappear from pop culture. It came back. Disney spent hundreds of millions building the IP at theme parks and marketing. I’m not saying Dune won’t come back, but even this thread loaded with fans went four months without a post

"Did you guys hear that they changed the title of the next movie from 'Dune: Messiah' to 'Dune: Part Three'? I know there's already a lot of material to cover just from the Messiah book, but I bet that means that they will also include some stuff from the other books as well. Children of Dune, and whatnot......oh wow, it's almost lunch time already!"
