PJ just posted some random 1991 live pics on their Instagram.
Maybe not sooo random. Cause Matt Chamberlain was their drummer at that show. Coincedence???

was listening to some rage against the machine today, made me wonder how pj would sound with brad.
it's not gonna happen but I'd be curious to hear that, he was pretty good on that short pumpkins tour too.

Re: Next Drummer Rumours, Predictions and Speculationings
I agree Chamberlain is the most likely to get (and accept) the spot, unless they come up with something totally out of left field....
He's got the history, enough stamina (or at least seems to me is the same frequency as the band at this point), and the chops. The only time I saw SG was with him (and I never got to see PJ with anyone other than Cameron) and the guy delivers, no question. Plus hopefully having him would give Stone some room to bring more of his groove...wishful thinking.
I don't think Stuverud is happening. As the band, I love his energy but I don't think it matches theirs in the long run, he's got too much of a savage approach, like a Dave A's type but less polished and rawer, almost frenetic. His moment with them was amazing and they all felt it, but that was more like a one night passionate affair: they had fun and felt young again, but that's not what they are any longer and they know it.
Smith, Perkins, Freese. None of them will join PJ. Their names are too big for a band fading away. PJ seems to be maintaining an energy and maybe even expanding while slowly retreating. They can have fun with any of these guys whenever they want, but bringing any of them in on permanent basis would create too much expectation and unnecessary pressure at this stage of their career. Will they go down a path of rotating big names by record/tour? Maybe, but that's it. Still this sounds unlikely to me. Who knows...
I will take whatever happens. I am finally at peace with them and they have been at peace with themselves for a while, Matt's send off is a clear demonstration of it.
At the end I have no clue what they will do next...has anyone ever been good at that? My bet still goes to Chamberlain, though.

has anyone suggested barrett martin? Hard-hitter, has a bit of a jack vibe in terms of being unique and has a legacy with Mike.

Barret Martin is a beast of a drummer. Who's still doing some projects with Peter Buck. But is also a professor in anthropology now. Not a full-time musician anymore.stip wrote:i did!
He would be a great drummer for them, but I think he hasn't toured in about 10-15 years.

Nice video. Chamberlain seems like the obvious pick, but who knows.
It would be fun to see Dave Grohl show up for like a one-off show or something. I always figured he was on good terms with the band in spite of the old Kurt drama, but does anyone have a read on that?

Probably no to Dave Grohl.
Chad Smith is a possibility. He knows the band well, friends with Stone, and plays with Andrew Watt all the time.

Re: Next Drumoise
Well .we can cross Josh Freese from the list. He is going to Nine Inch Nails. And their drummer is the new Foo Fighters drummer (also ending the stupid theorie that Matt Cameron would be Foo's new drummer).
Maybe PJ should do something similar. Find a much younger dude.Ilan Rubin is 37 and about 20 years younger than the other Foo's.
