drumming in general was less developed as an artform, it's not just about him; John Bonham was much tighter, but that's alright, I don't think it's drums Sabbath are known for pushing forwardLoathedVermin72 wrote:wtf, Bill Ward is one of the greats!

which is not to say that there weren't drummers who had it more developed than othersLoathedVermin72 wrote:I think Max Roach might have something to say about thisMs Harmless wrote:drumming in general was less developed as an artform

Damn - and he was on my shortlist for Cameron replacements, too.Ms Harmless wrote:listening to the debut right now
it's great, even if I have to accept that the drumming is sloppy in places

Apparently Matt, Kim and Ben were advertised as playing but schedules wouldn’t allow them to make the trip.

Damn. Glad he got a final show and got to see so many friends.
I met him backstage in the late 90s. Had a photo (lost along with other things). He was shattered after the gig and barely present. But oh my what a show.
RIP and Up The Villa

so continuing my Black Sabbath deep dive, I'm not in love with "Iron Man" as a track but other than that I did find Paranoid to be a remarkably consistent and experimental listen, and the drums are really levelled up, what a fab album! looking forward to trying album 3 tonight
