The Best Pearl Jam Fans You Know
Another dad here in the neighborhood … he and his wife’s 5 kids are all adopted from 3rd world country, he coaches sports teams, works at a foundation. Former military. Just a great dude. Invited us out on his company boat last weekend and had the most random music mix. Several contemporary “church” songs … rap and pop and soul with Jesus lyrics … along with artists like Shai, Prince … and several PJ songs mixed in there. (Not impressed by the specific choices … Black, Alive, Betterman … all the radio hits … but still).

Re: The Best Pearl Jam Fans You
My first PJ show was in Milwaukee in 95 the summer after I graduated high school. Fan club put me in the 4th row. Fast forward to 98. I’m in college and dating a girl who also likes PJ (or me) well enough to join the fan club for tickets. I get tickets for Minneapolis and she for Chicago. Of course we broke up before the shows. But we agreed we could be amicable enough to go to these shows together.
After a long fucking drive to Chicago, I was looking to talk to anyone else. Saw a dude about my age outside of the United Center sitting alone on a bench in a disgusting NOFX Heavy Petting Zoo shirt. That was my in. We bullshitted until doors opened and must have exchanged emails. I really have no recollection of that.
I moved out to California in 2000. He moved out to Portland around the same time, He came down and stayed at my place while we went to Bridge Benefit in 01. In 02 we met in Seattle for a Key Arena show. I moved back to Minnesota in 03 and he moved back to Illinois not long after. Since then our PJ experiences together:
05: Road trip to Thunder Bay
06: Chicago and St. Paul (opening for Petty)
07: Lollapalooza
09: Chicago
10: Road trip to Kansas City and St. Louis
11: PJ20
13: Wrigley
14: Milwaukee for the Yield show
16: Wrigley
18: Wrigley
22: St. Louis
23: St. Paul
24: Wrigley
25: Pittsburgh (Cameron’s last show) And we got to meet Peeps!
We’ve gotten together for non-PJ stuff as well, but it’s just mind-blowing to me and everyone who knows me well. I don’t make friends easily, but he’s one of my best friends, and we met at a PJ show 27 years ago. That’s the best Pearl Jam fan I know.

It would be great to have one of these Jesus songs sandwiched between Erotic City and Sexy MF by Prince.warehouse wrote:this guy sounds terribleBammer wrote:Another dad here in the neighborhood … he and his wife’s 5 kids are all adopted from 3rd world country, he coaches sports teams, works at a foundation.
