That was great! In My Tree, Faithful, Sleight of Hand, Sad, and Breath in one show but then skipping Daughter, Betterman, Even Flow, Just Breathe, and Yellow Moon? It's like they were reading my mind and played a show that wiped away the slightly bad taste of the last two I had seen (PHL2 and Balt). Eddie gave props to my section after the Jeff chant me and the old dude next to me started that got so loud Jeff had to signal the crowd to tone it down. Eddie's voice sounded waaaay better than Baltimore, almost back to Brooklyn levels, so look out luck fans going to Charlotte you guys are in for a treat.

A real high note to end my tour on.

And I await the secretive Jeff story the OP hinted at but I will say this:
Spoiler: show
I thought he was too loud in the mix, the bass was so heavy it drowned out a lot of Mike and Stone's work. ;)

Im pretty sure the Jeff chant and all of the love ed was trying to show Jeff was the story chloe was going to tell, she just didn't wanna type it out during the show.

Hey b_i, how was that crowd compared to the rest you were in this tour, we thought they were amazing and even surprised the band a bit. Im really hoping that will bring them back to c-ville again some day

And also b_i, did you really not see the uke ? Obviously nothing came of it, but the tech getting eds stuff ready brought one out and strummed it a few times and then carried it off stage with an acoustic

The crowd was better than Baltimore and Worcester for sure. I agree the band was probably surprised given how deep in "Red State" country they were.

Mike walking through the GA crowd while still playing was fucking awesome. I'd never seen him do that before.

I really didn't, but I was trying to be social with the folks around me so I may have blinked and missed it. I also missed Ed jumping/falling from his Porch-swing, only saw him hit the stage.

Anyone see a picture of the setlist? I was wondering if anything was crossed off given the eclectic, bordering on random nature of the show.

That was the story :-) Ed introduced Jeff, Ed and Stone both point at him, crowd starts chanting "Jeff". Ed shares his wine. It was a cool moment and almost made me wonder if they had read any headlines about Jeff "storming off stage". Crowd was spectacular, especially in our area (we were right next to broken iris). Loud as fuck! Here's a link of Ed falling. You may want to turn the sound off, it's really awful sound. I had a feeling Ed was going to fall, but I do think it was kind of a tumble on purpose.

I'm jealous that I don't live in Virginia anymore. My best friend, who I took to his first Pearl Jam show in 2003 (shortly after joining RM in 2002!) got to go and I was actually glad they played I Am Mine and Thumbing My Way as I knew he would recognize those songs from the Riot Act tour.

Charlottesville is also a lovely city and definitely not deserving of the moniker "Buttfuck, VA" as someone said. That name belongs to a place like Danville or Roanoke. The place is beautiful in the Autumn.

Here's looking forward to New Orleans Voodoofest with Pearl Jam!

Charlottesville and Richmond are the only worthwhile cities cities in VA :-) Not quite BFE but close. We were just happy we could see them an hour from home. It's crazy to think they've never played CHO though, the crowd really was awesome. Hoping Charlotte is just as good, the band really feeds off of it.

I lived in Richmond for 9 years, it never grew on me, but it is better than many cities in VA. I grew up in Northern VA (Fairfax) and love it there the most because of diversity but all that is just part of DC anyway :)

I love shows in C-Ville, one of my favorite memories is going to see Gogol Bordello at the Jefferson Theater for New Years 2010.

I would have LOVED to have seen PJ last night at the John Paul Jones Arena.
