Do we know of any bands from the last ten years that he actually listens to? I imagine there must be, but it would make that whole trend way funnier to me.

I think I read a quote somewhere from Caleb Followill that when they had just recorded Sex on Fire he played it to Ed and "I don't think he liked it but he told us we were about to go on a big, big trip" and I think that's the last I heard of the Vedder/KOL love in.

I'm not sure it even took them that far. Maybe to the end of their front yard to check the mailbox, except they realised after 3 steps that it was a Sunday and they wouldn't have any mail and so aborted the trip.

the final verse is my favorite part as well, i love the little breaks in eds voice, it works perfectly for the intensity he is singing with

I can kind of hear that, particularly in the intonation of Ed's vocals and the fact that the guitars are more atmospheric rather than distorted and loud.

I wouldn't have been able to sum it up so succinctly but yeah, i think that's what it is. Has a lot to do w/ Ed's intonation. And the kind of dark atmosphere with the occasional jangly guitar accent.

The one version I watched on youtube sounded great to me. I think this song has the power to be in the 1st encore slot. Hopefully they pull it out tonight.
