Yup, he also appeared with KOL a few times back then to do some pretty killer performances on Slow Night, So Long which is possibly my favourite KOL song. I think I read a quote somewhere from Caleb Followill that when they had just recorded Sex on Fire he played it to Ed and "I don't think he liked it but he told us we were about to go on a big, big trip" and I think that's the last I heard of the Vedder/KOL love in.harmless wrote:That's pretty funny.CupidStunt wrote:I know he was into early Kings of Leon. If "Sex on Fire" took KOL on a big, big trip, "The Fixer" took PJ on a casual stroll to the corner shops.warehouse wrote:*big waveCupidStunt wrote:Yup, he also appeared with KOL a few times back then to do some pretty killer performances on Slow Night, So Long which is possibly my favourite KOL song. I know Vedder has mentioned "The Greenhornes"
There was an interview he did, or a video short, about the steveis basement radio show? He had a few massive cd books of burned cds and he mentioned a few bands...

I'm not sure it even took them that far. Maybe to the end of their front yard to check the mailbox, except they realised after 3 steps that it was a Sunday and they wouldn't have any mail and so aborted the trip.harmless wrote:If "Sex on Fire" took KOL on a big, big trip, "The Fixer" took PJ on a casual stroll to the corner shops.warehouse wrote:*big waveCupidStunt wrote:harmless wrote:That's pretty funny.CupidStunt wrote:I know he was into early Kings of Leon. the final verse is my favorite part as well, i love the little breaks in eds voice, it works perfectly for the intensity he is singing withGot Some wrote:Ok I've fallen in love. The final verse is incredible!!!

Does anyone else think this song sounds a bit like The Cure?

That's probably the last band that comes to mind but i don't know their catalog that well.

I can kind of hear that, particularly in the intonation of Ed's vocals and the fact that the guitars are more atmospheric rather than distorted and loud.yofismom wrote:Does anyone else think this song sounds a bit like The Cure?

I wouldn't have been able to sum it up so succinctly but yeah, i think that's what it is. Has a lot to do w/ Ed's intonation. And the kind of dark atmosphere with the occasional jangly guitar accent.harmless wrote:I can kind of hear that, particularly in the intonation of Ed's vocals and the fact that the guitars are more atmospheric rather than distorted and loud.yofismom wrote:Does anyone else think this song sounds a bit like The Cure?

They've pretty much dropped this from the setlists already, makes me happier that I saw it live than I was at the time.

I really love this song. My favorite on the album. Makes me sad that it's gonna be hard to find on the boots.

Well, if they can't pull it off effectively live then I'd rather them not play it.bluestate wrote:I really love this song. My favorite on the album. Makes me sad that it's gonna be hard to find on the boots.

Re: My Father's Son
Was it any good when you saw it live? It doesn't seem like that hard of a song to pull off live. If they can play stuff like Got Some and get away with it, they should be able to rip this song.numbers wrote:They've pretty much dropped this from the setlists already, makes me happier that I saw it live than I was at the time.

Re: My Father's Son
The one version I watched on youtube sounded great to me. I think this song has the power to be in the 1st encore slot. Hopefully they pull it out tonight.bluestate wrote:Was it any good when you saw it live? It doesn't seem like that hard of a song to pull off live. They seem to have dropped all the best LB songs from the setlists already, besides Pendulum of course.

They've dropped Infallible too, so it kind of evens out.swan wrote:They seem to have dropped all the best LB songs from the setlists already, besides Pendulum of course.
