Netflix: The Eternaut

Post by Ensign9 »

This is pretty damn good, gang.
Spoiler: show
I didn’t love the initial bug reveal but then the last episode pulled the rug out from under me in a great way. I was a little disappointed this is turning out to be a recurring series, mostly because I want to know what happens next.

We have discussed this in the Netflix thread a bit, and for what you put under the spoiler, same. I want to read the comic just because I can’t wait for the next season.

I’ve literally read two pages of the comic and one big difference already:
Spoiler: show
On the second page, Juan appears out of thin air and reveals himself to the “author” character and promises to explain how he’s become unstuck in time, something that isn’t revealed until the very end of Season 1. Obviously very TV-y for them to move that revelation, and from what I understand there are a lot more differences between the two texts.

I kind of thought that would be the case with the bugs, even one of the main characters hinted that there was no way they were the ones controlling how they got here.

Also, wasn't the home country for most of the people in Starship Troopers Argentina? What is it with them and bugs!?

The comic book is glorious. Its incredible it was release in the 50s and its so modern. It also works as a comment on what was going to happen in Argentina, the dictatorship of 55.

I think Argentina was picked for Starship Troopers for, uh, different reasons.

On a podcast today, I heard about what happened to the author and his family. Awful.

I hope they start reprinting the comic in English. All I could find online was $300.
