i feel like they half their early catalouge is about death. there's probably enough material to get into specific cause of death-suicide, murder, accidental, etc. EV's kinda of a weirdo, but he did acknowledge they are "really good at teenage death songs". it's almost like a curse
murder: once, rival, my father's son
suicide: state of love and trust, jeremy, wws

Re: Pearl Jam Trilogies
rival is about the kids that shot up columbine isn't it? i always thought 'my father's son' was about a dude who's dad was a murderer. we could replace it with "buckle up", or "dirty frank", or "around the bend" if you buy that idea.RockPusher wrote:Where's the murder in those last two?warehouse wrote:murder: once, rival, my father's son

Re: Pearl Jam Trilogies
At first I laughed at the idea of Buckle Up and Around the Bend being about murder but reading the lyrics, it’s all right there.

Re: Pearl Jam Trilogies
If I could make music videos, I'd make one for Around the Bend that's basically a James Bond-type character killing people while wearing a tuxedo. The instrumental sections would be him driving a car with the sun in his eyes a la Kill Bill. Or, on second thought, maybe have him drinking at a bar and one by one the ghosts of who he killed all sit down and drink with him.Matters wrote:At first I laughed at the idea of Buckle Up and Around the Bend being about murder but reading the lyrics, it’s all right there.
