We are dogsitting a 7 month old puppy this week. I was not prepared for this level of playfulness. Neither was my 13 year old dog.

I’m not sure my five year old is prepared for that either. Picking up our new pups day after tomorrow.

they've been very good boys so far. playful but lots of naps. the ride home couldn't have gone better; we were expecting the worst... crying, vomit, urine. none of that, and my kid was back there singing softly to them. she's been so good with them, was hard to get her to bed as she wanted to keep checking on them. i'm sure she'll be up early to see how they're going.

Our Yorkie, Parker, is getting on in age. When we found her we thought she was already 8 or 9 years old but really had no way to tell since we just picked her up off the street. That 7 years ago. She’s always had a displaced knee, the vet said it was congenital and common in the breed, but it has never seemed to cause her any pain. Lately her leg, combined with her hips, have been quite unsteady. To the point sometimes she can’t even stand. Granted, she’s always had problems slipping on our hardwood floors, but this seems beyond that. I’m starting to get worried we’re on the downward slope with her. We lost Snowball last year and I don’t know if I can do this again so soon.

cute pups spike. should have named them angel and buffy

took bogey to blue pearl pet hospital because all the banfields were fully booked. they are great there and very zeroed in on your pet specifically when you are dealing with them. the only downside is it is pricey as fuck because it is considered an emergency hospital.

a good portion of their visits are dogs going through chemo, heart problems or end of life. you will generally see 2 or 3 people crying their eyes out and it just flat out sucks. as bogey and i are sitting there one young girl went to the bathroom crying and when she came out you can tell she had been bawling her eyes out. bogey approached her as she was walking and i gently pulled on his leash to come sit near me. she stopped and looked at him for about 10 seconds and then asked if she could pet him.

i said sure thing but be careful because he will kiss you to death. as she bent down to pet him sure enough he got up on his hind legs and gave her a shit ton of kisses. she was smiling ear to ear. was pretty proud of the little guy being able to have that effect on a person at that point in time.

Yeah it seems like vets have a lot more crying than hospitals.

So we have an appointment this morning to take Parker, our Yorkie, in to basically see if there is anything to be done about her hind legs/hips problem. She can barely stand up or walk at this point which is making going to the bathroom pleasant. She’s eating fine, alert, doesn’t seem to be in pain. She just can’t walk or stand for any kind of real duration of time. So we’ll have to ask that question of “is it time?”

I’m not ready for this.
