turns out, it’s sliced all the way through the most indestructible creature in the galaxy. Imagine the stacks of paper you could’ve cut with that paper cutter.
The xeno carapace is strong, but not impenetrable. We have seen them downed multiple times over the years. The problems arise from their acid blood in most cases.

But yeah, I think the fight could have been framed better. Wendy was technically "killed" via a head shot (a tail-stab* to the back of the head, perhaps?) but no other visible injuries was a bit odd.

Ah well, the rule of cool and all that.

*The xeno could've easily killed Wendy or Joe with its tail in the melee leading up to being shut in the cargo elevator. Joe especially has enjoyed a bunch of plot armor already. I know that xenos will behave differently when they're trying to "safely" capture a host vs. annihilate every perceived threat in sight, but still.

Who is the "person in the dark"? Are you talking about Slightly (Singh) stalking Joe's sleeping quarters?

Spoiler: show
We've got a xeno-whisperer on our hands.
Sydney Chandler (Wendy) is pretty fucking awesome. She completely nails all of the emotions required of an extremely complex character.

That octopus lucked out to evolve to look just like the eyes of the creatures that came to its planet.

Yeah i do have a bit of an issue with this but can overlook it because the show is good. The actor playing Wendy is fantastic

All about finding time. My wife has said 'No way am I watching that!' and pretty much all my TV watching time is with her

Some would say divorce is too far for Alien Earth, but not 100% of people.
