I got the 2019 from Columbia Legacy. Sounds great. Very good mix, a lot of space and good volume too.

I really liked it and it kind of made me wanna go back to NY and visit more jazz clubs.
I want to be a warm and friendly person

I was in Chicago for a long weekend, and on a whim, decided to go to Jazz Showcase to see Ryan Cohan Quartet, who I frankly hadn’t remotely heard of - they were excellent and the room had that old jazz lounge vibe going nicely. A great late afternoon matinee as part of a fun weekend.

He was definitely an interesting character. Totally devoted to the art form. I think Lee Konitz was still my favorite. I mean a guy who started playing at the clubs when Charlie Parker was still around. It was amazing that he was still playing at that level at his age. I also found the contrast between his, a bit grumpy personality and his beautiful playing interesting. They even made a short documentary about him from the extra material they had from the documentary. I wish it was longer, but here it is if you're interested:

I really need to check more of his stuff.

Konitz recorded a live album at Birdland in 2009 with Brad Mehldau, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian that I absolutely love.

I listened to Coltrane's ...Favorite Things last night. What a treat. He's right up there with Mingus for me.
