I was listening to Cantrell the other day and wanted to hear something similar - heavy sludgy metal, so I went online and started looking for recommendations. There were some I kind of liked, but it's the vocals that put me off. I just can't take it seriously when someone sounds like the orcs from LOTR.

Anyway, still wanted to hear some heavy guitars so I started looking for some heavier shoegaze, and I finally found this band Holy Fawn. I really like the first two albums (Realms is called both an album and an EP but I count it as album). The third one I didn't like so much.

To me they sound like a mix of Sigur Ros (without gibberish lyrics) and Mew (Danish band from the early 2000's, Frengers is an excellent album). So here are few favorites from those two albums:

No question, such a polarising song. I find it odd how popular it is in continental Europe. I can't go on a summer holiday (vacation) through a European city without hearing it in a cafe or bar as you walk past.

There's an Intervision Song Contest held today in Moscow. It's Putin's brainchild after Russia was banned from Eurovision. 23 countries are attending, among them USA (although B.Howard cancelled and was replaced by Australian-Greek singer Vassy who lives in LA): https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cre5vv0x31po
