Re: The Home Improvement Thread
I ran into a similar issue a while back and ended up needing help from a local plumber. If you're in the area, Hilton Head residential plumber Plumb Pro+ was super responsive and figured out the problem fast. I thought it was just a small leak, but they caught a bigger issue before it got worse. Worth reaching out if you're stuck and need a hand.

Within 48 hours of each other our main refrigerator and our garage refrigerator died. New one for the kitchen delivered today. I doubt we’ll replace the garage one unless i find another one for $25 like we did that one

fk man sorry
i had a scare the other week when i accidentally bashed a hole in my basement fridge
it was in the liner but the motor shut off at the same time
thought it was toast
checked it later and still making cold
duct tape on the hole
business continues
close call
god be with you on this journey
i am still recovering from my toilet replacement

Re: The Home Improvement Thread
I painted our timber fence with some protective timber oil paint, but basically wasted the entire 4L can by not stirring it properly, it made a gradient that went increasingly yellow the last 20%.. and it was only enough to do 1/3 of the fence anyway
Yesterday I went bought a 10L can with a darker colour which looks better anyway and re-done the whole thing
Now I’m sore today and slow to rise

Re: The Home Improvement Thread
We had a plumber out to fix a small water leak in our basement this morning. They replaced a pipe and left. Two hours ago I heard a faint whooshing sound and went downstairs to investigate. A torrent of water was pouring from the ceiling where they “fixed” the small leak. They are gonna have to gut my basement to fix this shit and I swear to god if these motherfuckers try to get out of paying one cent of the expenses I am gonna put them out of business. Had to send my wife and kids to my in laws house for the night (at least) since we can’t turn the water back on until they fix it.

wtf sorry man. I’d be livid too. Doesn’t home insurance cover that, in case the plumber’s an ass?

Re: The Home Improvement Thread
Selling our house and downsizing, and when getting it ready for showing, realized all of the little projects I never got to. None took to long to fix, so then got mad at myself for never doing them. Got the inspection report back for the new house we are buying, and seems like a little more than I'd like for things to get done. Going to talk to the inspector himself to see exactly how bad some of the things are, or if they were just items he had to list but aren't that big of a deal.

Re: The Home Improvement Thread
Now that our house is under contract, the home inspection for our current one is set for next week. Been doing minor repairs that I've put off for some time because i know they are little things that will come up on the report, and we don't want the new buyers nickel and diming us. Today at lunch I geared up in long sleeves, pants, mask, gloves, and went into the crawlspace to reattach a vent hose that we noticed came undone from one of the kitchen floor registers.
Add any job that involves going into a crawlspace to my list of shit I never want to do.

We’ve been in this house for 5 years. I have yet to go into the crawlspace. This house is 123 years old. I don’t want to know what’s under it.E.H.
