I was under the impression that taking off any equipment to interfere with play is penalized. Every once in a while a catcher will scoop up an in-play ball with their mask, or a fielder will throw their glove to stop a ball, and those aren’t allowed. So I figured once the helmet is off, touching anything (ball, base, another player) is illegal. If he slid headfirst and only his helmet touched the bag first and stayed on his head, I assume he’d be safe.

Damn. Cal Raleigh, most HR in a season by a switch-hitter in MLB history. Passed Mickey Mantle.

Wild that at this point in the season with only like 10 games left, he could be powering his team realistically to either a first round bye or no playoffs at all.

Raleigh now with the inside track to be just the fourth AL player ever with 60 HR in a season. He’d need 6 HR in the last 7 games to break Judge’s AL record.
