I have an amazingly easy test for that. Let's see who can go the longest without mentioning the other personally and just stick to the topics. It's a game we can both play! Ready? my plumber arrives at noon
i strategically positioned a local minor-league baseball team's giant foam hand at the foot of my staircase where he will walk to project homeland masculinity
my hope is the symbolism offsets some of the other potential signals present in the home
the goal is not to be so conventionally masculine as to invite additional discussion on this topic
moreso that it is enough to dissuade from assuming that i stand on the other side of the topic
which, in his own words during the assessment visit, could result in physical harm to myself or another customer
we pray for safe install

if it takes a turn I will just start blaming Fauci for things
like when my pool fence installers told me Fauci created AIDS
i can channel that character
then he will put the large wrench for head-bashing away

toilets are in
what a day
lost power twice
dude who did install not only brought up CK un-prompted but gave me an extended political world view rant plus personal life story session for like 15 minutes waiting for his partner to arrive
i won't repeat everything that went down out of respect
but suffice it to say there were times i was in shock
not really able to make jokes about it
things got very dark at one point
at least he closed the conversation on a positive note that what is important is that people have good values
i need a drink

Re: Charlie Kirk
Oh these are my real life beliefs, I only “talk” about them really when anonymous online or if I wanna piss off Mrs. Bam (which I’m careful to avoid - not worth it! - yes my wife is slightly woke), or argue with this one guy in our friend group who we refer to as The Troll. Well actually there’s another person in that same group who is a total libtard so I’ll mix it up with her occasionally as well.Strat wrote:bammers online beliefs are also very tiresome but in person he is an absolute delight and i wish he would move to minneapolis so we could be best friends.

I have learned it’s best to keep real life conversations just a little more neutral. Obviously.
My role professionally is to very much approach things with a “two sides to every story” mindset and seek the most fair resolution.
Strat has great hair. Awesome guy. Kind of a sloppy eater though.
PS - He did try to bait me into a conversation about Ibram X. Kendi and I was like, no man I’m good, how about those Timberwolves?

Re: Charlie Kirk
tbh i kinda miss the guy
we had a bonding moment
kind of like in one of those movies where a cop goes undercover with the 'bad guys' and then gets so close to them he starts to learn their ways / views, have empathy for them, and has to face a choice later on at a pivotal moment whether he will turn them in, or fight with them to defend them from the police
maybe we are all on the same team
we just take a really really really really long time to get to a point where we realize we think more closely about things than are evident from the first few sentences
