He's certainly worn a lot of expensive shades in the company of African children.

We can't all be Christ.

I'm not sure what that takes away from my post. There's a wide gulf between wearing expensive bling when you're trying to raise awareness for poverty, and being Jesus Christ.

Would it make you feel better if he wore a pair from the $ Store?

What rhetorical purpose is that post serving?

I think he means that a man as successful as Bono is has the right to don whatever quality of eyewear he pleases. He is still a dick, though.

Whatever. I'll go with this.

Can we talk about Lou Reed now?

Yeah, it'd be much better if he just did nothing. If you aren't willing to take off your expensive glasses while you help people, you really just shouldn't help at all. It's for the best of everyone involved.

Lament, I think you need to do 50 push-ups or rub one out. You're so likable but what on earth is this performance?

I got one of those down, and am prepping to do the other when I shower (though I have a date tonight, so maybe I won't).

I just think these tired Bono criticisms are about as lazy and unclever as any topic of music-related discussion. I'd expect this over in PJ chat, but for some reason I thought more of OB. Bono is like Barack Obama or the NBA, you never have to wonder if someone doesn't like them because they'll go out of their way to let everyone know, regardless of how pertinent it is the topic at hand.

They would've got less lazy / more clever if they'd ever needed to.

Here's a not-tired not-lazy criticism of Bono: I hate how he falls out of time near the end of "All Because of You". Fuck that guy.
