It was nice. I liked it a lot but I would understand anyone who didn't like it. Feels like a movie that was made to appeal to me. It's not perfect, and it lacks that really special seasoning that the very best of these movies has. But the cast is fantastic and I was moved. Looking forward to seeing it again, and watching it at least once a year for the rest of my stupid life.
your life isn't stupid, epilogue
just find your random door in a wood, and walk through it...

So you chose the Valentine's Day door?
What is that?
The Nightmare Before Christmas! Come on!
I can't believe I didn't recognize that... Fuck. It's been way too long since I watched that movie. I'm the worst.
The Argonaut wrote:I really liked Big Bold Beautiful Journey. It's a bit too on-the-nose about some ideas, but those ideas are ones I'm a sucker for, so it works for me. Like epilogue, I can understand why someone might reject it or be annoyed by it. I think Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are both separately great, but as a couple they have no chemistry whatsoever. It's a mismatch. The supporting cast is great, I thought it was really funny, too. I liked it a lot
Clarifying, upon further consideration, that the complete lack of believable chemistry between the two leads is actually a point in the movie's favor for me. It accords perfectly with my reading of the movie.
I believe the car rental agency when they tell us that they are not a soulmate service. I have no faith that those two will last long. Of course those two "fell in love". Their first date was one big trauma dump, that can be very bonding. It's like that fifty-questions-to-fall-in-love-with-anyone thing which is really just getting you both to talk about your relationship with your respective parents. The journey forces them to visit traumatic moments, so yeah, they are vulnerable and they bond. But it's built on sand
Rewatched Sicario. I recall giving it a 8-9/10 and Trag losing his mind at me, insisting that I'm certifiably regarded for not giving it a 10.
He came on a little strong, but I can see where he was coming from. del Toro's performance is an all-timer. Blunt and Brolin very fucking good also. Incredible film.
