TV: Better Things (FX)

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Loved how they dealt with Frankie's being transgender. No big revelation, no dramatic music, just Sam too busy to notice the major change going on in her child's life; Max calling it to her attention; Sam kind of going "holy shit, that makes sense." Then just crawling into bed with Frankie and giving her/him(?)* an embrace. Hit me hard, that sequence
*I'm not sure how I'm supposed to refer to someone who was assigned a female gender at birth, and seems to be transitioning, but hasn't made any new gender proclamations yet. Apologies if I've mishandled this.
I would have gone with them.

I have this on my To Watch list, I love Pamela Adlon and have heard nothing but stellar things.

Spoiler: show
a spoiler for later seasons but Frankie isn't transgender anymore.
I've been watching this for years, I'm surprised no one ever made a thread about it. Pamela Adlon is hilarious.

I'm about to watch the new episode actually.

We finished it last night. Thought it was great. Having daughters the ages of her kids really enhanced it for us, I think. Her kids could be absolute assholes but then totally sweet. Just like real life.

There was a lot of weird shit, too but we were ok with it. Great friend group/supporting cast. Loved Pollack and Phil was a fucking hoot. She was prob my favorite character.

I really liked how it was a reflection of Adlon’s real life. Even including the Ching of the Mill reboot. (Glad that wasn’t the same in real life.) it’s amazing how much Bobby Hill is her actual voice.
Let me tell you, Homer Simpson is cock of nothing!

My favorite moment in the series was when Adlon was shopping for Phil, and said to a person at a counter, “I’m looking got something for an old English woman with huge tits,” and the salesman standing in the background said, “I’ve got you right over here.”

I also overall loved how kitchen-centric the show really was. It was doing Bear stuff long before The Bear.

Yeah, I wondered why it showed her cooking so much.
