Damn, I can't believe you guys already beat me to hating on this movie. I was about to come in here to say that the trailer is garbage. Anyone seen the actual movie yet? Dev?

Re: Movie: The Counselor (10-25-13)
dev, what did you think of Blade Runner and Alien?
as for me, a man who is taking it all in good stride, as for my thoughts about The Counselor, which i saw on friday, my advice for us, who have all exhausted all the procurable information, is to get out your chalk and chalk it up to bitter experience, spilt milk, just one of those crazy things as far as the facts go.

It wasn't that bad. Some cringe-worthy moments, for sure, but a few good ones too.
Shouldn't be on any self-respecting list of best movies of the year or anything like that, though. Too many ridiculous-dialogue moments.

Ending is unforgivable. Bardem is pretty fucking good though.

Answer Malloy and then ask yourself if you want to go do down this road, Devin.

Diaz was awful, but to be fair, the script hardly gave her anything to work with.

This is the sort of criticism that sets you apart from others, Rafa. An awareness.Bob Loblaw wrote:Diaz was awful, but to be fair, the script hardly gave her anything to work with.

I was afraid of this reaction.
I'm wondering if the Coens script for No Country was far more subtle compared to Cormac's

Re: Movie: The Counselor (10-25-13)
"far more" seems like a stretch. tommy lee jones and bardem's characters were very philosophical. i think the coens's skill as writers assisted in them curating source material.Harry Lime wrote:Stickman wrote:man, wish everyone I spoke to was a philosophy major.

for the record, i think the counselor could have been really interesting, and i wouldn't mind a movie in which all of the conventions of the genre are broken if not completely ignored (which cormac seemed to be doing).
