Re: Next Drumoise
as much as i'd love the band to rawwwk, i would be more than ok with them 'acting their age', for lack of a better phrase. if that means less spritzy punk and shorter shows, so be it.

Re: Next Drumoise
They should've just agreed to play shorter shows & kept Matt in the band.
As for new drummers, they'll probably just find some studio guy who can copy all the parts of the half dozen or so drummers this band has had throughout their career.

Yeah, playing 70 min sets is totally understandable circa 1995 when tickets were $18.00, but for $180.00 I would be quite pissed if a band walked off that quickly. I don’t care how well they played.Monkey_Driven wrote:They did.Clem Halibut wrote:They should've just agreed to play shorter shows & kept Matt in the band.

Aside from festivals, have they ever played a show that short? My understanding is they have still been averaging 2 hrs, even if it's not the marathons they used to do.liebzz wrote:Yeah, playing 70 min sets is totally understandable circa 1995 when tickets were $18.00, but for $180.00 I would be quite pissed if a band walked off that quickly. Re: Next Drumoise
Sorry, that is what Matt Cameron had talked about in interviews, that he missed the intense 70 min sets. That’s what he wants to do. We saw Pearl Jam likely trying to meet him halfway. I also think the rest of the band wanted to play longer hence the shows started creeping up in length as the tour went on.RockPusher wrote:Aside from festivals, have they ever played a show that short? Re: Next Drumoise
I think Matt honestly just didn't want to be in the band anymore.
He's clearly entering the Dinner Jazz Fusion phase of his career.
He'll be joining Donald Fagen as touring drummer before long.

Re: Next Drumoise
You know, it might be worth Matt leaving if the new guy tells Ed the call-and-response in the middle of Corduroy is stupid.

Re: Next Drumoise
The new drummer does this by breaking straight into a drum solo if Ed sings “hey! Hey! Hey!”wease wrote:You know, it might be worth Matt leaving if the new guy tells Ed the call-and-response in the middle of Corduroy is stupid.

Re: Next Drumoise
I could see Corduroy being Ed's most cherished PJ song. Maybe he does it for some reason related to that. Something like wanting to feel a connection with the audience during that song.wease wrote:You know, it might be worth Matt leaving if the new guy tells Ed the call-and-response in the middle of Corduroy is stupid.

I seriously think they should have two drummers. Make longer shows easier.
