Nobel Prize will be awarded some time this week (maybe Thursday?). Pulling for Cesar Aira, who somehow makes it on the betting lists every year, which makes me think someone in the Academy likes him.

László Krasznahorkai was awarded the Nobel Prize this morning. I’ve known his name for many years since he’s published by New Directions, and I know his name has been tossed around for the Nobel for a few years, but I haven’t actually read him.

Don't really know anything about this one. I'm not very good at reading Murakami it seems, but let's give it a go:

I work as a tutor part time, and ostensibly I'm a general writing tutor, so students bring in papers on all sorts of subjects-history, health care, theology, philosophy, sports management...I've seen it all!--but it's surprisingly super rare that students bring in papers about literature. Today, though, someone came in to talk about their freshman English paper on A Midsummer Night's Dream, and I prepped by reading the first two acts of the play since it's been years since I've looked at it...and man this shit still slaps! I'm reading another book now but will probably circle back and finish the play when that's done.

This was...an experience.

May do Beloved next. Gonna hit up the library in a bit and browse though.

I did a quick search, but didn't see anything. Has anyone gotten into the Dungeon Crawler Carl series?

I read book one, and it was a fun read, but I figured I didn't need to read the series. Then I went on vacation, and I'm on Book 6.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I couldn’t finish the first book. I thought it was terrible. Sorry.

I don't claim it's great literature, in fact, I regularly skip pages as the author drones on, but I find them to be great junk food reading.

I described the series to Mrs. B as "imagine if one of your autistic students was enthusiastically telling you about his favorite video game which was also a reality TV show and a D&D game inspired by Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy." She was not swayed to read it. I almost had my daughter reading it when I told her that a main character was a cat named GC, BWR, NW Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk.

When all of Book 3 was about trains, I was forced to Google it, and yes, Matt Dinniman appears to be on the spectrum.

I hope you're all excited by my endorsement of this series. I honestly have no idea why I like it.

I mean I guess it’s good if it gets people to read something.

But I have to question peoples’ taste when this gets a 4.5 rating on goodreads and another abomination, Red Rising, is at a 4.27

Red Rising comes up in my Instagram ad nauseum. I eventually read it and couldn't have hated a book more.
It is so boring. Why would anyone recommend that to a friend?

I wish I could get the time back I wasted on Red Rising.
