Hey Boston, when it comes to hockey I hate your guts, but nice job on that World Series win... I was cheering for ya!

p.s. Props to you from all the Montrealers in my office, it's the general consensus that Boston is the best city to live in as a sports fan.

that's a big no shit right there. i've had discussions about this with friends. if you were a new england sports fan in your teens in the early 2000s, you're living a charmed life. 3 super bowls, 3 world series, a stanley cup, and an nba title, and you're not even 30 yet. here in minnesota we still cling to 87 and 91. and we're really glad we couldn't find a role on our club for a guy named ortiz.

You're right. But if you were born in the mid 80s you got the glory years of the last 12 years, but you also remember very well how in the 90s Boston was the biggest joke sports city in the country.

Yeah I imagine the highs are that much sweeter when you were there to experience the lowest of the lows.

That's the way I see it, too. I think it means a lot more to watch a team win a championship when you also had to watch them struggle to get there. I feel like I've watched a lot of struggles from the Leafs, but I'm too young to remember the 80's, and I wasn't alive at all in the 70's... I can't imagine what it would be like to have been born in the 60's, and I definitely can't imagine what it would have been like to have watched the Red Sox for all those decades.

It was brutal being a boston sports fan in the 90s. Other than when the pats made the Super Bowl in 96, none of the teams even sniffed a title.

after the bruins lost to edmonton twice (in the cup) and pittsburgh twice (in the con. finals) AND then traded bourque to get him a cup. i figured championships would not be celebrated in boston in my lifetime.

Yeah, I was born in the late 70s, so while I got to enjoy the Celtics run in the early to mid 80s, the loss to the Bears in the Super Bowl still stings, as does Buckner.

And then you have 1986-2001, which pretty much sucked. Lots of good teams, but no titles.

Now it's what? 3 Super Bowls, 3 World Series, 1 Cup and 1 NBA title since 2002? Man, just when I thought this thing would end...it keeps going.

I'm afraid that when I'm 50, 60 or 70....we're gonna go back to sucking again. :)

For all this generational talk about Boston sports fans, think about this spoiled kid:

misleading too...not like he would remember any of the Pats titles or the first Red Sox title

at best his first real memories are probably the 07 Red Sox or the 08 Celtics...but he's still a spoiled brat

Does the name Aaron Boone still get y'all cantankerous? I would imagine after Boston's dominance in sports over the last decade, that wouldn't sting so much anymore.
