My father had a hip replacement last week; it was the first major surgery or procedure he’s had in his whole life. He is 71, but it’s astounding how he’s become a grumpy old man overnight. He feels like everyone in the hospital was out to get him and rude. He feels like no one is telling him the truth, that the doctors and the PT people and the nurses are all giving him conflicting advice and no one knows shit. He thinks the people at the pharmacy are screwing him on his medications (he was a pharmacist so that’s the one that’s really stuck in his craw). Just a weird, sudden transformation.

Sorry about your parents, my brethren. Give them hugs, make them soup, and tell them about your funniest farts. Godspeed.

The surgery went well and she was coherent the next day or two, but they moved her to rehab Wednesday and she's been delusional af and they won't start therapy.

That's my guess, but there may be other factors. Just not sure how much they could reduce the medicine without being mostly ineffective.

Mine got sick and was delusional for a few days due to the medication, but then she was ok. Just had to keep her from wandering off.

That's good. I'd imagine the older they get the more difficult it is to adjust.

I hope I do not live to that age.

Highly recommend, when your parents turn 70 you or they need to hire an elder law lawyer and or a financial advisor.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

My mom had to find a new doc, and at the first appointment, they ordered CT scan of her lungs - something she should’ve been doing since she’s a life long smoker. Results should be interesting.

I’d say she’d blow it off and live in blissful ignorance, but I believe she has to have it done to continue to receive Medicare.

My brothers and I had to force my dad to the doc for a recent issue that ended up being minor, but even the doctor told him that the symptoms warranted him coming in much sooner. I'm sure he blew off that comment by the doc.

It must be hard on boomers. They’re the first generation to become elderly in an age where we know a lot more about how bad all the shit we eat, drink, and breath is for us over time.

After a few weeks of on and off coherence and therapy, she got a cold that turned into pneumonia and then a UTI. May be on her last legs.
