Ranking my 2025 shows so far:
54 Ultra
Teen Mortgage
Bad Nerves
Chat Pile
Sting
Sublime
Shiner
I had lots of fun at all of them, though. Got three more to go before the year is out.

Saw Paul Dempsey (lead singer of Something for Kate) do his all covers karaoke show tonight.
The dude has such an amazing voice. And just him and his guitar on stage was amazing. And local girl Carla Geneve as support was spot on too.
Goes to show with enough talent a full band isn't always required. So good.

Re: Concerts you've been to recently
I haven't really been able to process or articulate seeing Brandi Carlile this past Friday the 13th.
We went with friends; all of us huge Brandi fans. But it was the firs show I'd ever attended with other people who were as (or maybe even more) excited to see the artist. I won't belabor it, but it was a truly lifechanging event. She was incredible. Her band was incredible. The setlist seemed designed for me! She covered Alanis. It was a special, special night and I hope I'm never so old that I forget how meaningful it was.

Re: Concerts you've been to recently
Just came back from Lollapalooza, had fun !
Djo was good! Steve Harrington sure know how to make some fun pop and rock.
Lorde was amazing!! Best show i saw from her , and it was the fifth one? This tour is really something and she is at the top of her game as a performer.
Tyler The Creator was meh. He was alone no band and it kinda feels like karaoke. Still some good moments, dude is talented. Better than Drake for sure !!

I took my oldest son (18) to see Cass McCombs last night. It was his first concert, and he loved it.

Re: Concerts you've been to recently
saw flea and his honore band last night. It was very different, and very good. obviously it was jazz-centric and mostly low key, but there were moments where flea played more aggressively on the bass that his inner chili peppers persona started to show. it was very much a relaxing, yet entertaining show.
flea mentioned that he'd played thousands of shows in his life, but he's never been as nervous as he was last night. aside from one-off songs here and there, it was the band's first concert ever. flea was chatty, and really down to earth (acknowledged that the album was the most vulnerable he's been music wise). 7.5/10

Man, the Toadies have still got it. I don’t love the new album, but they sounded fabulous at First Ave last night. I don’t think I’ll ever see them again so I left after Tyler ended the main set. I wanted that to be my last Toadies song.

My friend agrees and stayed for just that reason. I love it and really love it live, but I stand by my decision. I think this was my 5th Toadies show despite only loving their first two albums. 25th Local H show as well, but I love 4 of their albums.

Saw a Melbourne band tonight called Dr Colossus - they are a Simpsons-themed metal band and their set was immaculate.

I met Chat Pile after their show the other night. They seem like four good dudes.
