So these Aussies put out one of my favorite records from 2011. They have a new one and it's pretty good. This ode to 93 NBA finals is pretty great.

SNC have you heard The Native Cats album Dallas out on RIP Society? You might dig it.

Didn't know it came out yet. Saw some clips of Native Cats at Gonerfest awhile back and really liked em. Thanks for the heads up.

Not sure if this has been mentioned at all as yet, but I'm loving Hills Master Sleeps.

So it did! 2011 indeed. I only discovered it recently after reading a review about the recent re-issue. Still loving it though.

Carry on!

I know it's probably not cool to talk about Lorde now she's a worldwide phenomenon but her album is pretty fucking great

Oh and she's fucking 16, what the actual shit

9 months ago I told my friend in Salt Lake City that she was going to explode.

So yeah, I was right.

Yeah, she's a pretty impressive artist for someone so young. Her style is very different to the usual mediocre pop bullshit that normally comes from females of that age group.

Hey soma, how long has she been known about in NZ?

Signed since she was 12 but I hadn't heard of her until a year ago. She really did rocket to stardom.

I'm curious as to whether she really knows what she's doing, and makes most of the choices about her music and image. Or if there are a team of people behind her with a vested interest.

She seems really switched on. She did an interview with the Today show the other day and you can tell she's a no-bullshit kind of person that is really in it for her art.

No, she isn't another Lana Del Rey. She collaborates with a dude who writes all of the beats as it were and she does the rest herself. None of her output is manufactured.

When do we start thinking about songs/albums of the year? I'm pretty sure song is "Higgs Boson Blues" for me.

Pizzathehut and Dita Von Teese on backing vocals. Bless.
