Welp, that slaps. Carried hard by Thundercat, though. I think I may have fallen out of love with Albarn's (samey) vocals.

I have a question about Gorillaz that nobody seems to be able or willing to answer. Are they meant to be apes? The cartoon characters themselves, I mean. Are they monkeys? Or just weird-looking humans? Because most of them look vaguely simian, they have various songs that reference monkeys and monkey culture, they record at "Kong studios," they make monkey noises in their songs sometimes, and the band name is "Gorillaz."

I have always felt they were a band of monkeys, yes.

I've been thinking a lot about this post. Did you ever find a solid answer?

Regarding the lore, I learned something new today that I never paid attention to. Del the Funky Homosapien is a soul inside Russel? It's right there in the song, but it went over my head all these years. Why isn't he on all the albums if so?

Del is still referenced randomly, and as recently as this latest album:

The whole story has been entertaining.
I've always perceived the story as a side quest, most of which I don't even know about.
But the music, woof.

I've loved their last 3 releases, just as much as their first 3.
