New Mynabirds today, so that's getting most of my attention. But Rosalia is up next. Really excited for it.

Did not like the Rosalia single so I suspect the album won't be for me. I love her voice but her music is always a little too somber and downbeat for my liking, and this classical-infused direction she's taking could not be less appealing to me.

I love that she has such huge breadth stylistically, that she can produce something like "Despechá" which is a straight-up dancefloor merengue and then these lushly orchestrated lieder-operettas like "Berghain", and they're both equally emotional

Rosalia’s Lux is clearly a great album that has different emotional layers and exquisite vocals but im not sure it has a lot of staying power to me. Once the hype is gone, and boy this one is being hyped, im not sure it will be played more at home than Motomami
I will probably got the vinyl tough and cant wait to see her again live

Hard to know for sure. We'll see. I love Motomami a lot but to me the real point of comparison will be El Mal QuererVinylGuy wrote:Rosalia’s Lux is clearly a great album that has different emotional layers and exquisite vocals but im not sure it has a lot of staying power to me. Big fan of the new Silversun tune. Kinda sounds Neck of the Woods-esque. I'm all in.

Re: Albums of 2025
I just heard one of their songs for the first time and I’m baffled by seeing them described as hardcore/post-hardcore/etc. They sound like Flock of Seagulls with a lil bit of chugga chugga heavy guitars underneath.zeb wrote:I've tried with Turnstile but it's not happening for me.

They used to be a lot more hardcore-leaning.
