I don't think I will. It has some good songs, but favorite album? Fuck off.

I always listed to this album around the first cold snap of fall/winter. It struck me that we will likely never hear most of these songs live again. This realization made me very sad. Matt just owns this thing.

That was one of the first things I thought of when he left. Of course, they were practically already dropped anyway, but still…Monkey_Driven wrote:I always listed to this album around the first cold snap of fall/winter. There was a stretch where it was my favorite song on the album when it first dropped. Still love it. Definitely 5 starsLeatherhead wrote:Green Disease is a 5 star song.

Save You and I Am Mine will probably be played a few more times. Maybe an LBC or 1/2 Full once in a blue moon. Other than that RA probably is mostly retired. Can’t Keep is such a great show opener but they’ve only played it twice in the last ten years.

Wow - no. Weakest song on the record I believe.
Cropduster, You Are, Get Right, Can't Keep - 5 stars

Thumbing My Way is the only song that I skip on the album and it's not even bad. A respectable 3 star song.

I'm curious...what do you like about that track?Leatherhead wrote:You couldn't be more wrong.DDWJMUVW wrote:Leatherhead wrote:Green Disease is a 5 star song.

To me, it's extremely pedestrian. The vocal melody in the verses goes nowhere (it's meandering and weak). The chorus is only slightly better, but it's reminiscent of something that belongs in a Disney movie.
The "G. R. EE. D. " refrain is really, really cringe. Not the message itself, but the delivery. Also, it would fit much better in a song with the harmonies of say, a Bu$hleaguer.
Luckily, GD is bordered by two of the stronger tracks on this record. There aren't many "skip every time" songs in the catalog, but this is surely one of them for me. Come to think of it, I could pull greed disease (and maybe arc since it's a filler) off the record and Riot Act would be an end to end classic.

Ghost and You Are are two songs that I was lukewarm on for a long, long time, but in recent years I've come to think are both pretty great. They're two of the most significant long-term risers in my estimation.
