My wife and I always host but this is going to be our first year with no guests. Kind of a bummer.

I don’t do this, but my 3 best teacher friends and I are playing pickleball for a couple hours tomorrow while our spouses work. That’s our annual tradition.

No, actually. Just that pretty much all of our friends and family live out of state and we couldn’t pull anything together this year.

Does Friendsgiving mean:

- Any gathering of friends celebrating Thanksgiving together, as opposed to with family (supplants Thanksgiving)
- A wholly distinct gathering of friends celebrating Thanksgiving, separate from traditional Thanksgiving with their families (complements Thanksgiving)?

The second one, usually occurring on Thanksgiving Eve. Popularized by college kids comjng home for the holiday.

I think it's a dumb term, though. No need to call it something else. Thanksgiving is Thanksgiving regardless of who you're celebrating it with.
