The airing of grievances: a holidays thread

Post by daft twat »

I’m 48 with an 18 and almost 16 year-old. I’m not ready to be a grandfather, but I feel like I won’t really enjoy the holidays again until that phase of life. I loved them as a kid, and I loved them with kids of my own. Now they disappoint. My kids are always around so I take their presence for granted, especially when food has been announced. We eat dinner together all the time. I can’t wait for holidays to be little mini reunions. I sure hope my wife and I do better than my parents and shitty in-laws.

My in laws have been here for a week. They leave tonight. Being around them individually is always fine but together they are insufferable. My wife is more ready than i am to drive them to the airport in an hour

I should be pretty active in this thread beginning around December 12, when we stay with my sister and her family for three weeks.

Why are they insufferable together? Bickering?

I managed a low-key T-giving where the one Trumper relative had to leave the moment he was beginning to get amped up. Avoided a multi-hour black hole on that one.

Just got back home and took a hot shower. Feels good to be done early this year

Brother-in-law was two-and-half hours late for dinner. Thankfully, the rest of the family has finally decided to stop waiting for him to begin. Mrs Wease’s parents were griping about him being late the whole time and of course when he gets there they just dote on him and fawn all over him. He stays about an hour and leaves.

Sorry for the repetition. But yes. It happens at every gathering. If he bothers to show up at all.

Yes that and they ask us the same question that the other one asked five minutes ago. But because they annoy each other they don’t listen when the other one is talking lol
