I have trouble remembering if RM's film buffs love or hate The Tree of Life, so I put it on my queue. I'll see for myself next week, I guess.

Hatfields and McCoys. At first I thought they were taking a lot of liberties with the story, but it seems that it was very accurate. Really good. Costner and Paxton were awesome.

I'm not a film buff, but I loved Tree of Life.

I saw Frankenweenie last week. It was ok.

7 Psychopaths. Couldnt really get into it. I hate Colin Farrel.

Looper. Suprisingly graphic. I liked it enough.

After waiting for a year, I finally watched the documentary Undefeated. It won the Oscar for best documentary last year and then went MiA. It never came close to me in the theaters, no DVD, no Netflix, no iTunes.

The other day I was walking around in WalMart and there was the DVD. I checked my phone and still no Netflix but found it available for rent on iTunes.

The film is brilliant. It is very similar to Friday Night Lights so if you like that you will like this. Brilliant story telling and great charechters. The coach made me feel like I need to be doing more in some way. It was worth waiting for.

Cool.

I watched The Stunt Man (1980) the other night. What is one bizarre movie.

Anyone see "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"? Just got it in the mail. It was the Mrs.'s pick...I don't know anything about it other than Steve Carell is in it.

The Tree of Life is outstanding. Though, most people would probably laugh at the idea of Joey as film buff. And, as indicated by most of the film/TV threads on RM, my opinion is largely suspect. But, yeah, it's fucking good.

Watched Dead Man for the first time last night. I doubt I've seen enough Jarmusch films to have a good feel for his range as a director, but this one felt a lot different than the others that I've seen (except maybe Ghost Dog.) Where films like Stranger Than Paradise and Down By Law seem (at the surface) to be concerned with boredom and bad luck, Dead Man was quite the surreal ride. No doubt I missed a lot by not being that familiar with Blake's poetry, but there was enough obvious stuff in there to still make the references enjoyable. Great film all around. I won't be returning it to Netflix until at least one more viewing, though.

Shouldn't have (I've got lots of reading to do) but I watched "The Master" last night and this morning. I liked it, but I felt it didn't live up to my expectations for some reason. Although I usually eat it up in books and movies all the time, it seemed too fragmentary at times. But great performances, especially by Phoenix.
