I sincerely didn't want to come across as mean. I guess I thought it would be funny at no one's expense. Turns out it was at your expense and probably not even funny. I'm working on myself. Thank you for forgiving me, if you do.

These impressions are not what I was expecting to read. I guess we'll see if the reviews are less harsh.

It seems like everything other than the Federation trooper companions is rock solid, so I'm cautiously optimistic. It seems like a bizarre choice, however.

Metacritic is currently at an 81, which is a bit lower than I was expecting/hoping for. Game looks gorgeous for a beefed up Switch game though.

What's the difference between a beefed up switch game and a switch 2 game?

It was not originally developed for the Switch 2. It's a cross-gen release. The beefing up is better textures, increased resolution, and higher frame rate.

Let us know what you think about a Metroid that's not a Metroidvania.

About an hour or so in and this feels like a Metroid Prime game! This is a major compliment, btw. It runs really well and the music is incredible.

I ran into the Federation trooper that every preview complained about and he's not too annoying yet.

Stay tuned for more impressions...

Just finished the second main area and explored the desert/wastelands on the bike.

Impressions after 3-4 hours:

- Everything looks and runs exceptionally in docked and handheld mode. Retro continues to be a leader in art direction.
- The federation trooper thing was overplayed. He was in the game for 10 minutes and largely disappeared.
- The desert area is really empty with little to do. It feels like a Gamecube/Wii era locale. Luckily, it's not that big and you can get from one side to another in just a few minutes.
- The boss fight in the second area is top tier. A really cool design with excellent lighting and effects.
- Psychic abilities are fine? They don't change the formula at all. The Psychic visor is also the scanning visor, so it's nice to not have to switch back and forth.
- I haven't played Prime 3 in a long time, but this seems like the most similar to that one versus 1 or 2.
- I've been primarily playing with a pro controller and the lock on/motion control for aiming works really well. So does the split joy con configuration.

Multiple reviews said it feels more like a pre-BotW Zelda than a Metroid. Do you agree?

Yes, the 3D games in the series have been trending in that direction. It started with the light/dark sections in Prime 2 and has continued into this one. It does very much feel like an Ocarina-style game.

Finally got a Switch 2. Really expensive with a memory card, and a few Switch 2 exclusives. Should get alot of fun hours out of it though.

Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, & Kirby Air Riders are the Switch 2 exclusives that I bought. Also got the Switch 2 version of EA Sports FC 26.
