The Phoenician Scheme. Not the biggest Anderson fan, but this was fine. An acceptable movie. Very adequate.

I'll definitely take Empire, thanks. Both are great. But Empire's like all time.
I've never seen either!
I finally watched Empire Records and I'm shocked at how bad it is! Awful movie!

Have you seen it recently? What do you like about it? I enjoyed some of the cast and parts of the soundtrack but man is it fucking unfunny, and the characters make no sense nor do they behave like actual human beings (and not in a stylized way, but in an ineptly written kinda way). It reminded me of a less funny episode of Saved By the Bell. The dramatic scenes are soooo fucking over-the-top and bad.

I watched it in the 90s! It's a coming-of-age movie! You were nearly 40 when you watched it!

Suck my balls!

I watched it last year? Pretty sure it was last year.

I listen to the soundtrack all the time.

Did you watch the Director's Cut or the Theatrical?

I think theatrical, the version on Prime Video. I don't remember it saying "Director's Cut" or anything like that

Cool. Yeah, that's the theatrical cut.

The Director's Cut is 36% worse

“Damn the man; save the empire” hit like crack as an angsty kid and the nostalgia definitely would positively affect any rewatch I did, so I’m assuming I would still enjoy it. Fresh eyes on that movie in 2025 I would probably think it’s bad even considering how much of its time it was.

I always think of this movie when I listen to some of the Gin Blossoms songs

It's one of the most-quotable movies I've ever seen. My friends and I still use quotes in every day conversation all the time.

I say, "I don't feel that I need to explain my art to you, Warren" at least once a month!
