Re: Movie: Disclosure Day (6-12-26)
I enjoyed this very much. It was way more "fun" than I thought it would be. It’s got elements of Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Minority Report, ET, Catch Me If You Can -- lots of chase sequences and government/tech bad guys. But it doesn't have much of the heaviness or cynicism of War of the Worlds, AI, Bridge of Spies. It also revisits some of the "fifth estate" soapboxing of The Post, which feels a bit antiquated.
The third act hit me surprisingly hard. It’s like the first act is Jurassic/Catch, second act is Catch/Minority, third is ET…but it also has some real profundity near the end, despite a lot of silliness before it.
It's imperfect, but the good far outweighs the bad. Definitely in the top half of his filmography.

Re: Movie: Disclosure Day (6-12-26)
A text from my friend who was in the the theater watching the movie:
"People are going to love Disclosure Day but I fucking hate it. It's very well made. Which isn't shocking. Looks great. The acting is great. There are some set pieces that are legitimately cool. I may be too cynical for what the movie is doing, but I've been bored out of my mind and I hate the way the plot unfolds. I think it's just a bad screenplay. Also, I know you're not in Kansas City. Don't choose Kansas City as a location and then film in the Catskills you asshole."
