Yes.
Go.
But if you could only pick one song to listen to the rest of your life - we’ve been over this - the clear choice is November Rain.

I guess my favorite from him is ¨That Feel¨epilogue wrote:Hold On is absolutely one of the greatest songs of all time.Strat wrote:Matters wrote:After reading this I listened to it for the first time. Still may be....
But it isn't even my favorite Tom Waits song. Which just goes to show that Tom Waits has more songs in my all time top 25 than Pearl Jam does.

Go has all the energy and angst that I associate with first getting into PJ. And Dave A.
November Rain, well, the debate ended here years ago: http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtop ... r#p1464962

I feel like of I haven't heard the song in years, never think about it, and when I'm reminded of it I think to myself 'if I never heard that song again, I'd be totally fine with that" it can't be the only song I pick to listen to for the test of my life.

Dude had too many great ones to try and rank. I wonder if I could actually come up with a top 10...?

Re: Is your favorite PJ song also your favorite song?
It's a funny one this. PJ rank high with me because of my attachment to them and investment in their entire, generally excellent, catalogue. But for individual songs I'd say, right now at least, RVM would be in the running for my single favourite song but probs not number 1. Not sure what else from PJ would crack my top 10 though. Perhaps Daughter.
Having said that, if you gave me the opportunity to hear one song live from any existing band right now it would unquestionably be "Release". But that's a different question.

Yes, Black is my favorite song. Probably the only PJ song in my top 100 tho.

I love rankings, but can't imagine trying to really rank non-PJ stuff for myself.

I could never rank them. I just feel like if I only got to listen to 100 songs for the rest of my life, Black is probably the only PJ song I take. Maybe Dissident as well.Jaeti wrote:I love rankings, but can't imagine trying to really rank non-PJ stuff for myself.

I’d be unable to rank my all-time favorites, but this thread got me thinking of an “essential” list.
Like what 20-song mixtape would best represent you?
That kind of thing.

I probably would pick a Pearl Jam song as my sole desert-island song. Which one, though, I'm not sure.

Re: Is your favorite PJ song also your favorite song?
I have a playlist of my favorite 10 hours of music. It evolves from time to time with songs being added and songs being removed. Right now there’s 137 songs on it, 10 hours and 20 minutes in total (I need to trim a few).
These are the Pearl Jam songs on the list:
Arc
Corduroy (alternate take)
Do the Evolution
Improv - 11/6/00 Nuremberg (To the Moon)
Jeremy
Of the Girl
Release
Waiting for Stevie
Whipping
Yellow Moon
You Are
Peace and Love
Throw Your Hatred Down

Interesting, thanks for sharing. Picking "a" favorite is impossible, but I could maybe convince myself to undertake a project of putting together 100 desert-island songs and seeing how many PJ tune make that list.Matters wrote:I have a playlist of my favorite 10 hours of music.
