I haven't wanted to post in the food forum for a while now.

i feel like when Anthony Bourdain died, mass american foodieism-as-culture began a steady decline

Re: Admit Something
Which is weird. Because what Bourdain espoused was a retreat from mass american foodieism and a return to homecooked and more localized authentic cuisine.96583UP wrote:i feel like when Anthony Bourdain died, mass american foodieism-as-culture began a steady decline
For sure, in NYC, there was a big shift toward more like generational cooking. Homemade and less opulent. The fine dining scene here is not at all what it used to be. And that's something I'm sad Bourdain didn't live to see. Because he would have loved it.

I haven't been the the city on ages but certainly gather you are spot on with your assessment, both in what is happening and his missing it
That said, people did seem to stop taking pictures of their meals and posting them endlessly so a) fucking great and b) American foodieism-as-culture was just a blip. Awful, bad, good and great meals are there to be had... give it all a whirl.

I miss that man more than just about any other human whom I've never met. Losing him felt like losing family. I still don't think I've over it. Fucking sucks.

I don’t think anyone misses that man more than CNN does, I dunno who they’re gonna find to do their “my food journey” shows once they finally exhaust the cast of Big Night

The main reason i don't like wearing a hat backwards is because when i tilt my head back to eat some shredded cheese, the bill of the hat hits me square in the middle of my upper shoulders and it annoys me

I don't know what the Essential Studio Albums thread is about and at this point I'm afraid to ask.

the best part of a family members funeral is that many people give you bottles of good booze that will get you through a number of weeks..somebody I dont know from my wife's family stopped by and gave us 3 bottles of scotch..
