It's looking more and more like this is the new normal. Instead of expecting a billion, half a billion is probably the new mark. Budgets should be adjusted.

Re: Fantastic Four Are Coming to the MCU! (11/8/24)
I thought this was great at jumping in past the origin story and capturing a retro-futuristic aesthetic. The cadre of villains was a nice touch and I enjoy seeing Paul Walter Hauser play the bit parts
As ridiculous it is to send a pregnant woman into space, I thought the birth scene had a quiet beauty to it.
I don’t know how you do Galactus without devolving into destruction spectacle, but I think that was the weakest portion of the movie.
I was also very moved by the emotional beats in this one, but I’ve become a big softie the last few years. Franklin saving Sue was very telegraphed, but still landed for me.

I thought this was pretty boring. Thunderbolts was better. So was Superman.

im not sure about boring but i get what you mean. there wasnt a whole lot of action in it. it was the marvels version of a hallmark movie. lets talk about family and our love for one another and then fight the corrupt bank man who comes to foreclose on our son

Re: Fantastic Four Are Coming to the MCU! (11/8/24)
I hate to say it, but an origin story wouldn't have hurt. I have no idea why these 4 people went from astronaut fuck ups to the Earth's sworn defenders.
The other movies I mentioned ... I know why Superman Supermans, and I know why most of the Thunderbolts do what they do. That's clear in those movies. I probably even understand that guilt drives Reed, but guilt that he hurt his family doesn't necessary translate into a need to protect the Earth, and his guilt certainly wouldn't drive the other 3 members of the team.

i thought it was kinda easy why they are sworn defenders. they are the only ones with powers on their planet who super hero. the rest are all bad guys.
after having two previous versions (three if you want to get technical) redoing the origin in detail would have been boring. i dont see why they dont stick with the cosmic rays was ignored because the government was going to ixnay the rocket takeoff due to concerns of such a storm but reed pushed every one to do it now or they would never get the chance. that would have explained his guilt towards his family a little better.

The most fantastic thing depicted in this movie was crowd behavior.

I enjoyed this. The aesthetic is great. Loved the tone and the visuals (mostly). Well paced. Characters have real chemistry. The dialogue isn't the best but the plotting is nice. Cool mythological storytelling. Cheesy but has heart, too.
There are a ton of flaws but this was way better than I expected.
