Man, Thurston has so much going on.

Every time I go through his discography on wikipedia, I notice something I missed earlier.

For instance, this spacey 2021 project called Screen Time. Wasn't on my radar.. Either lack of fanfare or lack of engagement on my part, I guess?

As for why track X / Y / Z made it or didn't make it...well, I did the best with what I had.
Seeing as its Xmas would anyone be kind enough to repost this compilation?
This seems awesome, can anybody please share it or tell me wher can I finde this?

Thank you
It's on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/SY_Death

There's a lot of stuff on archive.org if you know where to look.
Matt Reeder, you're probably long gone, but thank you for this.

When you posted originally, I overlooked it. I wasn't much into downloading at the time, but I'm here now and grateful for the mix.

This thing looks like a beast, I'm sure there was a lot of work that went into it.

Off the bat, "Stones" sounds awesome.

The goo/dirty era tracks sound better live than on the albums. Without that studio polish, there's a different energy.

This looks fun.
RSD First Release: Diamond Seas - Out 4/18

32 live performances of Sonic Youth’s “The Diamond Sea” plunderphoniclly orchestrated by John Oswald (of Grateful Dead "Grayfolded" fame) – providing two distinctly new experiences of the classic track from Washing Machine.

Side A features 1995 performances exclusively while side B spotlights only 1996 performances.
Each side clocks in at precisely 20:44. A sonic experience that will spin dry your ears!

Have you ever listened to Grayfolded?

This sounds like it will be very similar. Snippets, kind of. Sound from a variety of sources woven together and manipulated to create something new. Sonic Youth, chopped and screwed.

I'm getting back into Thurston's book. I stopped reading it expecting a traditional biography of him or the band, and started appreciating it for how good he is at talking about his influences and music in general.

The two singles seem to point to a more varied sound than The Collective. I'm really looking forward to this release. "Talk dirty tech to me"

I've been in a Jim O'Rourke mood lately. I wish he'd done more with this band. There's this electric current when he's around. It's like you're inside the amps, feeling more than hearing.

Im also very lucky to have attended to a 2000s SY show with him, and it was wild.
