No offence, Burt, but you seem kind of bad at picking good movies to watch.

Unlike me, who just watched It Was Just an Accident, a very good and important film.

Taxi Driver and Goodfellas.

Just my second viewing of each. Goodfellas clicked for me more this time.

Taxi Driver is so dang good. I should have seen it 13 times by now.

I wouldn't presume to choose my own movies. I let The Algorithm decide for me.

Now there’s a big ask.

Marty Supreme.

Meh, i guess it was ok? Uncut Gems was superior. I liked the camera work and the montage, which is also kind of similar to UG or Good Time. I liked that the main character was just an awful human being, i guess thats why Timothee is good in this role? But the running time was bloated and the end was hilariously bad and what was the point anyway?

At least i had fun at the cinema.

Goddamn yes, thats a fucking police thriller right there!! Joe Carnahan sure know how to shoot em. Affleck and Damon are awesome. I didnt quite liked the ending though.
Spoiler: show
I though it was amazing if they took the money and killed the crooked cops
Spoiler: show
I wouldn’t have minded that twist, since the rest of the plot was predictable after about five minutes.

Them sitting on the beach at dawn with the sun rising between them was super cringe, especially when you consider where this movie was at its height - when the paranoia among the cops sets in as they realize the size of the rip. I really thought we had something then.

I really liked Marty Supreme
Spoiler: show
He is a snively little shit, and then acts 2 and 3 are one long, intense humbling. He turns a corner and finally cares about something more than himself. I found the ending pretty moving

I also really liked The Rip. Extremely predictable but just fun to watch, I needed something like that

But my favorite movie I watched this week was No Other Choice

I love movies

Same. I will never hear that Tears for Fears song the same again (or Forever Young).

No Other Choice was really great, for sure. I already want to see it again. I think I got it on one level, but there is a lot going on and I'm certain there is a fair amount I missed or could make better sense of on a second watch. But that's ok because it is terrifically beautiful just to look at and try to keep up with and is never boring.

Watched TITANE last night. What a ride.
14 hours later and I'm still unsure how I feel about it, so kudos to Ducournau for that.
