My dog almost never wore a leash, because he was civilized. He simply plodded along wherever I went. If someone said hello to him, he would politely walk over to greet them, then we would continue on our way. I miss that dog.

If the dog is chill like this and totally under control it's probably fine.BurtReynolds wrote:My dog almost never wore a leash, because he was civilized. He simply plodded along wherever I went. It’s still annoying. Everyone else doesn’t know if it’s chill.Dev wrote:If the dog is chill like this and totally under control it's probably fine.BurtReynolds wrote:My dog almost never wore a leash, because he was civilized. Also other off leash dogs might not be as chill and then you can't control your dog if shit goes crazy. But my thinking was that Burt's dog was so chill he didn't even approach people unless invited over and in some cases I might be open to a making an exception for dogs like this... But I think if your dog strays from your side at all you gotta leash him. Alternatively I have had so many bad experiences trail running and meeting dogs who's owners are sometimes so separated that they can't even see the dogs that I get nervous even when I see a dog offleash even if it's just standing by the owner.spike wrote:It’s still annoying. Good forbid you cowards be exposed to my totally chill dog! You might get nervous!
That's a good thing about living in a dog friendly city like Austin or Portland.

I did have some bitch yell at me about my dog from across a parking lot once. Naturally, she had a pit bull twice her size. I told her to do herself a favor and euthanize that trash animal.

I'm honestly fine with this. We must also think of the children. Many are scared of dogs - which fair enough, it’d be like an adult being chill about a riderless horse just clipping down the sidewalk - and off leash dogs, no matter how chill, make them nervous.Dev wrote:I'm honestly fine with this. He is such a friendly dog that he just loves to see all the people on his walk as well as the dogs.Dev wrote:My question is why does he jump at all? I know I am going to be in a minority here but I think everyone should train their dogs not to jump. Not everyone wants to be jump on. My dogs never jumped or imposed on people and therefore everyone liked them and felt comfortable around them.Peeps wrote:Dev wrote:People who aren't in control of their dog are the worst people. Watched a dog drag his owner to another person walking their dog last night and attack it viciously. Not sure why people have such violent pets and I certainly did ask him what he needed a dog like that for.
my dog doesn't really drag me (he is only 21lbs) but he will max out his leash and then begin jumping on his hind legs towards 90% of the people we see on our walks. he is so happy to see other people and the dogs.

Just seems like the current health scam/trend. Make your crappy food sound somehow healthier by upping its protein content.
I don't even understand why people would need so much additional protein. Are they not getting enough through their everyday diet?

Re: Things you have an irrational hatred of
there is a little boy (5-6) that when he sees bogey yells his name and comes running over with his parents. he is very cautious though and approaches slowly and I really have to coach Bogey not to jump due to his excitement. over the past two years the kid will very slowly put his hand out and let Bogey give him a lick and then asks me for a treat so he can feed Bogey. I picked up on his parents signs to pretend I am out and I follow that to a T. It is slow letting him get introduced to my buddy but I am hoping it makes him less apprehensive around dogs.spike wrote:We must also think of the children. There is a guy that lives a few houses away from the aforementioned couple and son that has a 150lb 2 year old mix. most intimidating dog in the neighborhood by looks but is just a big puppy. when he and bogey see each other they both do that bow their heads and paws out to the side and then give each other kisses. then he greets me with kisses and I give him some head scratches.
when I first saw this dog i thought he was full grown. me and a few other small dog owners were congregating and what not and they walked by on the other side of the road and he was pulling at his owner to come over. at first we all tightened our grips on our leashes. then the poor fella just fell backwards and laid on his back. owner had to pick him up and carry him. then once he and bogey got introduced i realized what a teddy bear blue is.
i am much more skeptical of dogs at a dog park as i have seen at least 3 dog fights and 2 of which the owner was very nonchalant about how it was no big deal (these all happened on the big dog side of the park)

Yeah, it's the total trend / scam of the moment. Getting too much protein is actually quite bad for you. Especially all of this processed protein.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Just seems like the current health scam/trend. Make your crappy food sound somehow healthier by upping its protein content.

Saw some protein PopTarts at the store. Gotta get those gains doing pull-ups on the jungle gym at recess.
