I heard her talking about that on WWDTM and she had an incredible recall of the whole thing.

Scandal brewing: last night was the pre-release event for Lorwyn Eclipsed, and instead of containing a rare or epic bonus LE card, a number of players received Ninja Turtles cards. It’s been confirmed that this was an error and not some sort of special promo.

I found a zombie edh deck I was working on last night in a storage box. Pretty sure there are some modern masters booster packs sprinkled in there. I miss playing this game with my nerd friends.

At least you had that at one point. I'm bummed that I never played paper magic. Even though there's a game store/coffee shop I frequent close to me, I probably never will actually play with people. It feels like a tight-knit group and it would be super weird If I suddenly told my family that I couldn't make it to dinner because I've got a new EDH pod commitment.Dev wrote:I found a zombie edh deck I was working on last night in a storage box. We used to do draft tournaments each time there was a new set. We'd go for the pre-release at the comic shop and then when the set was released a few weeks later we'd buy a box and do another draft. I will never forget the owner of the shop who confided in me that she hated sunlight.washing machine wrote:At least you had that at one point. I'm bummed that I never played paper magic. Besides not having local people to play with, I think I’ve also been ruined by playing Arena only, because even though I understand mechanics and can figure out what all cards do, I’m too used to everything be doing automatically for me. Figuring out priority, keeping track of counters, working the stack, these are all things I’d basically have to learn again at a snail’s pace if I walked into a local game night.
I’ve said it before, if Wizards ever puts out a Commander-exclusive app alongside Arena as has been rumored for years, we should set up a regular RM Commander game night for sure.

What colors did you usually play with? I peg you as a green/black guy.Dev wrote:We used to do draft tournaments each time there was a new set. I will play any color and any type of deck if the mechanics and or commander is cool. I did have a Jarad Golgari Lich deck. It wasn't very interesting but I played it on occasion because compared to some decks it wasn't so broken.washing machine wrote:What colors did you usually play with? And when you draft the cards dictate the colors you play.

It's a whole other ballgame arguing with nerds about rulings in real-time and then googling shit and then still only agreeing sometimes.Simple Torture wrote:Besides not having local people to play with, I think I’ve also been ruined by playing Arena only, because even though I understand mechanics and can figure out what all cards do, I’m too used to everything be doing automatically for me. But most nerds are pretty patient when it comes to teaching noobs. I wouldn't worry. They are good people. Inevitably you just accept what they tell you even if you don't understand.

I'm currently switching from keeping track of my collection on TCG Player to Deckbox and, god damn, this is going to take forever. If you decide to track your collection make sure to find a site that you like before getting too deep into it.

Re: Me and Reid and Other Cool People Play Magic the Gatheri
I've been taking a little break from Arena. Actually haven't even checked out the lorwyn set. I miss it, but I just don't have time.
It's magic adjacent, but lately I've been playing the s*** out of slay the spire.
My time on Arena has significantly improved my StS gameplay. Since my play style favors control, I love the lack of timer on StS. It's so much more conducive to work-life balance. I can have a run going across several days and just put it down when life happens, which is always.

I totally missed the Lorwyn set, but I went to get coffee today and saw that the store was stacked with TMNT cards. Back on my bullshit.
The pizza cards are pretty cheesy.

Re: Me and Reid and Other Cool People Play Magic the Gatheri
I like Llorwyn a lot, tons of cool cards. I pulled two shocklands out of packs after never having pulled one before! Fun experience.
With Turtles, I wish I had learned my lesson from Spider-Man. There is some cool art and I like how each turtle and most of the villains have both common and rare versions, but there is no value at all in packs. I've pulled just 3 cards with values over $1 in like...15 packs? I don't see myself buying anything else but singles from here on out. I could've bought a Krang or a Supershredder plus all the cards I currently have for less money than I've spent so so far if I had just bought singles.

I get you. Counterpoint: I have a six year old who is thrilled to see a. funny pizza, and b. one of the turtles.
p.s. I'm rooting for him more than he's rooting for himself on this quest.
Found this rare borderless that made my day.

Hey ST, this season's fantasy baseball team is going to be called baseball: the gathering.
It's going to be great because I'll be the only one in my league to laugh about it.

Alright, after a little break I'm booting up Arena and buying paper packs again. Strixhaven looks promising.
